Join us for some opened-ended STEM play! Multiple stations around a central theme will be set up in our Welles Gallery; kids just have to walk in and start exploring. No directions to follow, no finished products – just play and curiosity. Parents of children 9 and under are asked to stay somewhere within the Library. Due to the nature of the explorations, these activities are not appropriate for children younger than 4 years old.
Session 1: Simple Machines: cars and ramps, gears, catapults, pendulums and more (Oct 12)
Session 2: Building: toothpicks and marshmallows, newspaper rolls, 100 plastic cup challenge, paper chain challenge and more (Oct 19)
Session 3: Reactions (mix stuff together and see what happens): oil and water, baking soda and vinegar, markers/water/coffee filters and more (Oct 26)
