SUMMARY:Know Your Rights with Berkshire Immigrant Center
DESCRIPTION:This presentation will provide practical information to empower both immigrants and allies.  A caseworker from Berkshire Immigrant Center (BIC) will explain the key legal rights of anyone interacting with immigration enforcement agents\, including the role of warrants and how to interpret them.  They also will clarify the legal boundaries around bystander support and what to do if someone is detained.  Attendees will leave with a better understanding of recent changes to immigration enforcement practices and concrete steps that families can take to prepare for emergencies.  Please bring your questions\, as there will be time for Q&A after the presentation. \nBerkshire Immigrant Center’s mission is to advocate for the rights of all immigrants by helping them navigate the complex U.S. immigration system with affordable legal services\, local resources\, and education. BIC serves over 800 clients annually with three caseworkers. We envision a future where everyone in the Berkshires can enjoy full and equitable access to opportunities\, regardless of where they were born. BIC works to create that future by helping immigrants change or maintain their immigration status; supporting immigrants in building sustainable futures; and helping the Berkshire community grow more welcoming and inclusive for immigrants.

SUMMARY:Baby Circle & Supply Swap
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a very special Baby Circle event to pass along gently used baby supplies* to new and expecting Lenox Library parents. \nWe will host a supply swap for gently used baby supplies (carriers\, monitors\, activity mats\, etc.) to give to Baby Circle attendees and expecting parents from the Berkshire community. All items will be put out for new and expecting parents to take from during Baby Circle on March 18\, 2026. \nCommunity members (especially Baby Circle alumni!) may participate by dropping off any baby supplies for the event between March 3-18. We also welcome expecting families to come meet Baby Circle leaders Sara and Steph and participate\, too! We hope to start a tradition of passing along items that our Baby Circle parents love but no longer need to families who are in the thick of new parenthood. \nBaby Circle is a weekly gathering for new parents with babies aged 0-15 months. We sing songs\, do early literacy activities\, and provide support to new families in Lenox and surrounding communities. \nAbout our Baby Circle leaders: Youth Assistant Sara is a pediatric development specialist and Library Assistant Steph is a birth and post-partum doula. \n*No clothing or large furniture items\, please.  Call the Library at 413-637-0197 with any questions about what items are being accepted.

SUMMARY:Book Portals and Journeys of Literary Magic with Kate Quinn (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to join us for a virtual conversation with acclaimed author Kate Quinn about her latest fantastical work\, The Astral Library\, which poses the question: Have you ever wished you could live inside a book? Welcome to the Astral Library\, where books are not just objects\, but doors to new worlds\, new lives\, and new futures. \nAlexandria “Alix” Watson has learned one lesson from her barren childhood in the foster-care system: unlike people\, books will never let you down. Working three dead-end jobs to make ends meet and knowing college is a pipe dream\, Alix takes nightly refuge in the high-vaulted reading room at the Boston Public Library\, escaping into her favorite fantasy novels and dreaming of far-off lands. Until the day she stumbles through a hidden door and meets the Librarian: the ageless\, acerbic guardian of a hidden library where the desperate and the lost escape to new lives…inside their favorite books. \nThe Librarian takes a dazzled Alix under her wing\, but before she can escape into the pages of her new life\, a shadowy enemy emerges to threaten everyone the Astral Library has ever helped protect. Aided by a dashing costume-shop owner\, Alix and the Librarian flee through the Regency drawing rooms of Jane Austen to the back alleys of Sherlock Holmes and the champagne-soaked parties of The Great Gatsby as danger draws inexorably closer. But who does their enemy really wish to destroy—Alix\, the Librarian\, or the Library itself? \nRegister now to hear more about The Astral Library\, crafted for all bookworms and lovers of literature. \nThis is a virtual program.  Please click HERE to register. \nAbout the Author: Kate Quinn is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of historical fiction. A native of Southern California\, she attended Boston University\, where she earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in classical voice. A lifelong history buff\, she has written four novels in the Empress of Rome Saga and two books set in the Italian Renaissance before turning to the 20th century with The Alice Network\, The Huntress\, The Rose Code\, The Diamond Eye\, and The Briar Club. The Astral Library is her first foray into magic realism. She and her husband now live in Maryland with their rescue dogs. \nThis event is generously sponsored by the Lenox Library Association and Lee Bank\, and brought to you in partnership with Library Speakers Consortium. \n\nThe views expressed by presenters are their own and their appearance in a program does not imply an endorsement of them or any entity they represent. SUMMARY:Unlock the Hidden Power of Dreams with Sleep Expert Michelle Carr (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to harness your dreams to improve your sleep and health with dream engineer Dr. Michelle Carr. In Nightmare Obscura\, Dr. Carr unlocks the science behind the sleeping body. Drawing on her expertise in nightmares\, lucid dreaming\, and the cutting-edge field of dream engineering\, she reveals how we can revolutionize our sleeping—and waking—health. \nTo most\, dreams are things that slip away when we reemerge into the waking world\, their remnants jumbled up and only half recalled. At their best\, they are populated by pleasant recollections and surreal experiences. But at their worst\, they can be traumatizing and prevent us from receiving the necessary benefits of sleep. \nSo why do we dream at all? What makes a person prone to nightmares? How do our bodies interface with our brains when we’re not awake? And how can we harness our sleeping minds to improve our waking lives? \nRegister now for a conversation you don’t want to miss! \nThis is a virtual program.  Please click HERE to register. \nAbout the Author: Michelle Carr is the director of the Dream Engineering Laboratory in the Center for Advanced Research in Sleep Medicine\, an assistant professor at the University of Montreal\, and a former president of the International Association for the Study of Dreams. Alongside her research and work as a dream engineer\, she has published numerous scientific papers\, a popular Psychology Today blog\, and articles for New Scientist\, Aeon\, and Scientific American. Her book\, Nightmare Obscura: A Dream Engineer’s Guide Through the Sleeping Mind\, was published by Henry Holt\, in 2025. \nThis event is generously sponsored by the Lenox Library Association and Lee Bank\, and brought to you in partnership with Library Speakers Consortium. \n\nThe views expressed by presenters are their own and their appearance in a program does not imply an endorsement of them or any entity they represent. SUMMARY:Humor\, Heart\, and Reflective Rural Stories with Michael Perry (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Join us in conversation with bestselling author and humorist Michael Perry\, whose collection of genre-spanning works encapsulates the experiences–and the magic–of rural town communities and the everyday people who reside in them. \nIn Michael Perry’s memoir\, Population: 485\, the local vigilante is a farmer’s wife armed with a pistol and a Bible\, the most senior member of the volunteer fire department is a cross-eyed butcher with one kidney and two ex-wives\, and the back roads are haunted by the ghosts of children and farmers. Against a backdrop of fires and tangled wrecks\, bar fights and smelt feeds\, Perry tells a frequently comic tale leavened with moments of heartbreaking delicacy and searing tragedy. \nJesus Cow\, Perry’s fiction debut\, is a hilarious yet sincere exploration of faith and the foibles of modern life. Low-key Harley Jackson finds himself entangled in drama from all corners: A woman in a big red pickup has stolen his bachelor’s heart\, a Hummer-driving predatory developer is threatening to pave the last vestiges of his family farm\, and inside his barn is a calf bearing the image of Jesus Christ–a secret he wants to keep quiet\, until the truth slips right through the barn door. \nRegister today to hear more about Perry’s expansive collection of stories! \nThis is a virtual program.  Please click HERE to register. \nAbout the Author: Michael Perry is a New York Times bestselling author\, humorist\, corporate speaker\, volunteer firefighter/first responder\, and amateur snowplow driver. A lifelong resident of the rural Midwest\, his “reflective roughneck” takes on life in Middle America have left hundreds of thousands of readers and live audiences laughing\, nodding\, and sometimes misty. \nPerry\, a registered nurse who put himself through college working as a Wyoming cowboy and a roller-skating Snoopy produces the popular audio newsletter “Michael Perry’s Voice Mail\,” performs widely as a humorist and speaker\, tours with his band The Long Beds\, works as a script writer\, voiceover artist and audiobook narrator\, and still makes an occasional call with the local volunteer fire and rescue service. \nPerry lives in rural Wisconsin and can be found online at www.sneezingcow.com. \nThis event is generously sponsored by the Lenox Library Association and Lee Bank\, and brought to you in partnership with Library Speakers Consortium. \n\nThe views expressed by presenters are their own and their appearance in a program does not imply an endorsement of them or any entity they represent.
