The Today Show on MSNBC recently reported on the critical role that Public Libraries have in this current economic time. This is something that librarians have known for years: “Libraries will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no libraries.”

What we are doing to help you

Do you need a computer and internet access?
We offer: FREE public access to the internet, WIFI, broadband access, computer data bases and an internet savvy staff who are able to find free resources by region.

Do you want to see an opera without leaving your home?
We offer: FREE opera DVD loans; sheet music and scores (including Koussevitzky’s personal collection) as well as an extensive CD collection.

Do you find going to the movies and buying books too costly?
We offer: FREE video and DVD loans, magazines, newspapers, books, books and more books!

Do you want to take a college course or two but can’t seem to come up with the cash?
We offer: FREE Great Courses from the Teaching Company on both DVD and CD. These might not get you a college credit, but we have the material to satisfy your intellectual curiosity!

Is entertaining the kids becoming cost prohibitive?
We offer: FREE Youth Department programs and activities throughout the year, special summer reading programs as well as books and videos for all ages.

Why we are different and why we need your help as well

We are not just your regular Public Library. We are an independently owned and operated Library. That means that we must raise 60% of our operating budget. This library has been offering Free Services since 1856 and will continue to, but we need your help to make that possible!!
