On Sunday, April 25th, at 2pm, the Board of Managers of the Lenox Library Association will host a reception to welcome the library’s new Executive Director, Sharon Hawkes.  Sharon will talk about the future of libraries in the twenty-first century, and how an active Lenox community will help define how its library will contribute to positive change.  This reception will be held in the Sedgwick Reading Room of the Lenox Library at 18 Main Street in Lenox.

Raised in Westchester and Fairfield Counties, Sharon earned a BA in Dance from New York University, and has a background of over twenty-five years of dance performance, teaching, and arts management experience.  Transitioning to the library field, she graduated with an MLIS in Library Science from Syracuse University with studies in administration, library law and digital libraries, joining the Beta Phi Mu Honor Society in 2008.  She also completed continuing education credits for a Level 1 certification in consumer health information from the Medical Library Association.

“I am thrilled with the welcome I have received from the staff, the Board, and the community,” said Ms. Hawkes, “and I look forward to seeing how we can work together to maintain the traditional services of the library while expanding into exciting new services that will engage and enrich our diverse community.”

This reception is open to the public and refreshments will be served.
