In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, Lenox Library is pleased to partner with The Brien Center for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services for their Community Conversations series. Join us on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. for a conversation with Brien Center’s President and CEO, Christine MacBeth, and Dr. Jennifer Michaels, Medical Director. Together they will address the impact of the pandemic on mental health across our community and region, as well as provide strategies and suggested techniques to manage and care for oneself or a loved one. Their presentation will be followed by a Q & A period.
This pilot program is being held in collaboration with local, public venues to encourage all from the community to attend and ensure full access to those interested. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
About our speaker: Jennifer Michaels, MD is the Medical Director of the Brien Center, an Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and an attending psychiatrist at Berkshire Medical Center.
She is a frequent guest on Public Radio, WAMC, and is a committed community educator on topics related to addiction, mental health and mindfulness. Dr. Michaels has been treating people with mental health and addiction issues for over 25 years.
Dr. Michaels is dual board certified in adult and addiction psychiatry. She is a national mentor for the Physician Clinical Support System, a program providing training and education to physicians treating people with addictions. She received her medical degree from NYU School of Medicine.
The Brien Center is a community-based, nonprofit agency providing behavioral health and addiction treatment services throughout Berkshire County.
