Crochet Coral Workshop

Love to crochet? Or, want to learn how to crochet? Love the sea and coral reefs?

Join us for a “Crochet Coral Workshop,” in which you will learn how to crochet a “coral” for the Berkshires Satellite Reef community art project. The Berkshires Satellite Reef—part of the worldwide Crochet Coral Reef by artists Christine and Margaret Wertheim—is a participatory art project involving the creation of a life-size coral reef made entirely out of crochet. The reef is being made as a way to raise awareness of the threats posed to coral reefs worldwide as a result of climate change. All corals made for the project will contribute to the Berkshires Satellite Reef, exhibited as an immersive theatrical installation at Williams College’s ’62 Center for Theatre & Dance (Williamstown, MA), opening April 18, 2026 and running through May 3, 2026.

All members of Berkshires communities (and beyond) are welcome to participate by making a coral. Instruction and kits provided. No experience in crochet necessary. This activity is intended for ages 8 and up. Registration is not required for this program.
