The initial airing of a videorecording of the Declaration of Independence, conducted by members of the Lenox Community, will take place on Saturday, July 18 in the Welles Gallery. On that date 250 years ago, the Declaration was officially proclaimed from the Old State House in Boston.
The ten-minute video will feature voices of those who live and or work in Lenox, paired with stunning footage of Lenox provided by CTSB, and images from the Library’s Local History collection. It will be shown at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The Library will also host a “Write Your Own Declaration” activity in the Gallery, where viewers may peruse photographs of the 1976 parade held in Lenox, taken by noted photographer Art Marasco, on loan from the Lenox Historical Society.
The video will be posted for future viewing on the Library’s YouTube channel, the Lenox Town Hall website, and CTSB.
