Carolyn M Abrams is a mixed media artist from upstate New York well known for its rolling hills and amazing light and sunsets.  Her work is an exploration of the wisdom of art that she finds as a passionate artist.  Intuition has always guided her in her exploration of the spiritual and physical worlds through art.  An enthusiastic learner, new techniques and unique art materials drive her work to best express this passion for creativity in her ethereal and peaceful nature-inspired paintings.  From the natural world that surrounds the area in which she lives to the bell that is rung by a lyric or poem, each work reveals the elements of impressionism and abstraction.  Feelings of hope and harmony are ever present in her atmospheric work which attracts many of her collectors to follow her on her journey.

Artist’s statement: “Connecting with my creative spirit and the world around me, most especially Mother Nature in all her beauty and her challenges.  There is a voice in nature that touches us and connects us to one another in ways that evokes an emotion and stirs the soul. My work is about creating that connection.  It is a metaphor for so many ethereal moments  in life that are fleeting and bring with them a bond like no other.

Using mediums such as cold wax and oil, acrylics and collage I feel that relationship as I work layering, adding, subtracting, constructing and deconstructing on canvas, paper and wood panels.  Mark making is a must to infuse my energy in each work and you will find each of my  atmospheric “soulscapes ” intuitively honors this affinity with  Mother Nature.

In the Plein Air Gallery I found that working outdoors in various locations has been exhilarating! It is a recipe for challenge, connecting with nature and creating atmospheric work.”
