Lenox Library is one of only eight libraries chosen to participate in the “Be Mighty for Your Library Challenge” hosted by author Kwame Alexander (The Mighty Macy) and EveryLibrary!
What is the challenge? Three Actions + a Poem
Between the dates of April 10 – 25, 2026, youth participants (ages 6 – 16) complete any 3 of the 5 Be Mighty Actions:
- Sign up for a library card
- Use a library card
- Check out a book
- Bring a friend or family member to the Library
- Attend a Lenox Library program
Then, participants will receive a poetry prompt to write their own poem about the Library (4–8 lines are suggested, but fewer is fine too). Poems will be displayed in the Library!
Be Mighty Community Literacy Awards
After the challenge, three winning library communities will receive:
- One Word at a Time Author Study Season Pass (awarded to a nominated partner school)
- The Mighty Macy video read by Kwame Alexander (1-year access)
- $1,000 donation split equally between the public and school library partner for future literacy programming
- Press release recognition
- Feature story in EveryLibrary’s Medium Magazine
- Social media recognition across EveryLibrary and Kwame Alexander’s channels
Another way to participate:
Library patrons of all ages can help us win the challenge by checking out the book The Mighty Macy (and/or placing a hold on it).
