We are pleased to continue our Distinguished Lecture Series, now in its 16th season. On Sunday, March 26, 2023 at 4:00 p.m., Attorney Janet Pumphrey and Dr. Albert Harper will explain how murder cases are defended, since all the accused are innocent until proven guilty.

Janet Pumphrey and Albert Harper are a married couple living in Lenox.  Attorney Pumphrey is an appellate lawyer, handling murder appeals in the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and the First Circuit Court of Appeals.  Dr. Harper is a forensic science consultant specializing in death-scene investigations.

They will speak about the career paths that led them to Lenox, the law of murder, and interesting cases they both have had.  Slides will be shown.  This talk, while not at all gruesome, is intended for adults and is not appropriate for young children.

Now in its 16th season, the Distinguished Lecture Series is organized and hosted by Dr. Jeremy Yudkin. Dr. Yudkin is a resident of the Berkshires and Professor of Music and Co-Director of the Center for Beethoven Research at Boston University. Every summer at the Lenox Library he presents the pre-concert lectures for the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s Tanglewood season.
All programs in the Distinguished Lecture Series are free and open to the public.
