Lenox Library Association

The Lenox Library Association is offering a donating opportunity in support of its most important asset: its librarians.

Librarians are the professional staff members who lend their training and expertise to choosing, organizing, and displaying materials; creating programs and exhibits; preserving fragile archival documents; and teaching and interacting with the public every day. With a masters degree or a commensurate level of experience, librarians combine a heart for personal service with a wealth of knowledge about library standards along with an understanding of the needs of patrons in the Lenox community.

A gift at any level, designated to the Lenox Library Personnel Fund, would help support the salaries of the library staff. A larger gift, at a minimum of $15,000 for one year, $12,000 annually for three consecutive years (totaling $36,000), or $10,000 annually for each of five consecutive years (totaling $50,000) would allow the donor to name a salaried position after one’s self or in honor of a loved one.

For additional information regarding Personnel Fund gifts and the associated naming opportunity, please call Development Manager Susan Faber at 413-637-2630 ext. 121 or sfaber@lenoxlib.org.

The Lenox Library offers several opportunities to name gifts to the Library on behalf of the donor or in honor of another individual.  Some of our donated items still have their benefactors’ names on them over one hundred years later, and remain as an enduring tribute. Any monies not directly spent on the named item will go to support the infrastructure and staffing of library services.

What motivated a local family to sponsor the designation of the “Mr. and Mrs. Matthew D.M. Keator Family Special Collections Vault?”

Matthew and Hannah are both multi-generational Lenox residents and long-time supporters of the Library.  Matthew is a current Lenox Library Association board member; Hannah’s mother Mary Jo Piretti Miller was a former Board President, and her aunt Betsy Holtzinger Herrick was a former board member.

When asked about the gift Matthew and Hannah had this to say: “We’re both very proud and grateful to have been born and raised in Lenox. The people and the history of this town mean a great deal to us and our families.  Hopefully this gift helps support the Library and its mission to continue to enrich the community as well as preserve and promote Lenox’s historic legacy.”
